Inspired by Hegel's master/slave dialectic, "THE SELF, THE OTHER, AND THE OTHER'S OTHER"  visualizes an encounter between the self and the other. As the viewer gazes upon themselves gazing at the other who is gazing at the viewer, the self becomes the other's other, troubling the dichotomy between self and other, and between subject and object. Here, the reciprocity of the gaze enables, or rather forces, a recognition of the other, and the possibility of a new relationship predisposed by the understanding that the existence of one depends on the recognition of the other.
